WRITER'S STATEMENT

FINAL_MarcusBaker_011723_004_edited.jpg

The events of A FRAME happened to me across my years attending and working at bible camp. Almost nothing has been added or changed.

As a writer, I find myself drawn to character-driven stories with knotty, insoluble dilemmas at their core. With A-FRAME, I wanted to dive deeper than the anecdote and instead explore the story of a young man torn between his clean cut image and the messy, incongruous nature of being human. The truth of who we are always comes out whether we want it to or not. It’s just a matter of whether you’re willing to own up to it.

I’m extremely proud of this script and everything it packs into seven short pages. I feel it embodies everything I do well as a writer and filmmaker. I hope you enjoy reading.
